I have been teaching English in Rome for 16 years, 10 years as a Director of Studies, the last 5 of which here at the British School Prati. I believe in the Communicative Approach to language learning, providing the students with motivating and interactive lessons, full of speaking, listening, reading and writing practice.
Students can find the English language confusing compared with Italian and it is our job to show them how easy it can be. Whether it be difficulties with grammar or vocabulary, we strive to find clear and entertaining ways to help our students understand and use the language.
The British School Prati is a warm and welcoming environment, where students feel reassured to experiment without fear of making mistakes. It’s our job to steer them on the right path. My personal motivation is that students are making steady, lasting progress and we will do our very best to make sure that they achieve this goal.
Jared’s teaching career is in the beginning stages however he brings with him 8 years of experience working in business and leadership roles in the USA. His classes are communicative, relaxed and fun! He enjoys photography, watching sports, and learning how to speak Italian.
Devin swam with dolphins today, plays the cello, and loves karate.
Just kidding, but she’s funny! She studied comedy in Chicago before becoming
TEFL-certified and moving to Rome. She loves pizza, vocabulary, and riding
I received my certTESOL certificate in Bristol in 2012, after which I taught in Venice, Naples and now Rome. I have an open and communicative approach with plenty of role-plays and games to bring realistic contexts into the classroom. When not teaching, I’m probably playing football, tennis or running in Rome’s parks. I also greatly enjoy reading, going to the theatre and learning new languages.
Tracey received her TEFL International Certificate in 2008 and has been teaching English in Rome for 9 years. She enjoys working with students of all ages and specializes in Cambridge exam preparation and Business English. Her hobbies include: travelling, swimming and distilling liquors.
Michelle’s previous teaching experience was in after school programs in Madison, Wisconsin (USA). Michelle received her CELTA certification in September 2016. She loves travel and photography, and has a passion for animal rescue and training.
